General information
To travel to Papua New Guinea, a Visa is required whether for tourism or business purposes.
The eVisa (electronic visa) is now available and allows you to manage this formality before your departure in a calm manner.
For French people (among others), formalities are possible to carry out on arrival at the airport but only for a stay of 30 days maximum and without guarantee that your application will be accepted.

Do you need a Visa for Papua New Guinea?
Obtaining an eVisa is mandatory to enter the territory of Papua New Guinea, particularly if you are of French nationality.
You can in certain cases request a Visa on arrival but without guarantee that your file is complete, the documents provided comply with the expectations of the authorities, … and therefore without guarantee that this will be accepted and you will be refused entry into the territory .
eVisas are offered for tourist and business travel.

To be noted:
– that the eVisas obtained cannot be extended.
– that eVisas are all for a single entry.

Conditions of entry in Papua New Guinea
To be able to enter Papua New Guinea, the traveler must bring their passport (valid for at least 6 months after the date of exit from the territory), a copy of their eVisa, proof of sufficeint resources for the duration of the stay as well as the return flight ticket.
No health restrictions on entry into Papua New Guinea.
It should be noted that, even if the traveler is in possession of all the documents requested to validate his entry into Papua New Guinea, the local authorities reserve the right to refuse access to their territory without having to justify it.
Understanding the Visa for Papua New Guinea
The eVisa is valid for 180 days from its issue for stays of 30 or 60 days (Tourism) or 30 days (Business) and for a single entry.
Documents to be provided: eVisa Business and Tourism

A color scan of the double page of passport data (valid at least 6 months after leaving the country)

Scan of proof of sufficient funds/finances (latest bank statement, etc.)

Scan of a cover letter, written in English for the attention of the Papua New Guinea Immigration and Citizenship Authority (ICA), indicating in particular the purpose of the visit, the cities visited, the names/links and contact details of the place of accommodation during the stay.
