Visas for Laos

Obtaining a visa before departure is mandatory to travel to Laos.

Until December 31, 2024, tourists from 22 countries will be able to obtain multiple entry visas valid to stay in Laos for up to 60 days.

Currently, the Laotian visa only allows entry into the country and stay there for a maximum period of 30 days.

The 22 countries eligible for this measure are:

Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Spain, the United States, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, the United Kingdom, Russia, Sweden and Switzerland.

To benefit from this extended visa validity, it is imperative to submit your application before departure to a Lao embassy or consulate (Visa Travel International can assist you in obtaining this Visa).

It should be noted that no visa is issued on arrival in the country. Therefore, the traveller must imperatively make his request to the Laotian immigration service before his departure.

To be able to enter the territory of Laos, the traveller must bring his passport with visa as well as a return flight ticket.

It should be noted that, even if the traveller is in possession of all the documents requested to validate his entry into Laos, the Laotian authorities reserve the right to refuse access to their territory without having to justify it.

The visa is valid for two months from the date of issue for a maximum stay of 30 days.

• An original passport, signed and valid for at least 6 months + a photocopy of the passport data page.

• A duly completed form.

• A full-face color photo “identity” format.

• A return flight ticket.

• A copy of the residence permit as well as proof of address for non-French people.

• A scan of the double page of passport data (signed and valid for at least 6 months after your arrival in Laos) of optimal quality,

• A scan of a front-facing “identity” format photo, color, on a light background, recent (less than 6 months) and of optimal quality (very good definition)

• A scan of your return flight ticket
