To travel to Eritrea a visa is generally required with a few exceptions.

Do you need a Visa for Eritrea?

Obtaining a visa before departure is mandatory to travel to Eritrea.

It should be noted that no visa is issued on arrival in the country. Therefore the traveler must imperatively apply to the Eritrean immigration service before departure.

Conditions of entry in Eritrea

In order to enter the territory of Eritrea, the traveler must bring his passport with visa as well as a return flight ticket.

It should be noted that, even if the traveler is in possession of all the documents requested to validate his entry into Eritrea, the Eritrean authorities reserve the right to refuse access to their territory without having to justify it.

Understanding the Visa for Eritrea

The visas are valid for 3 months, 6 months or 1 year from the date of issue for a stay of 1 month maximum.

Documents to be provided: Visa Business

  • An original passport, signed and valid for at least 6 months + a photocopy of the passport data page.
  • Two duly completed forms.
  • Two face-to-face color photos of “identity” format.
  • An invitation letter issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Eritrea.
  • A letter from your company indicating the reason, the duration of the stay, the contact details of the correspondent and the payment of the costs of stay and travel.
  • A copy of the return flight ticket.
  • A copy of the hotel reservation.
  • A copy of the residence permit as well as proof of address for non-French people.

Documents to be provided: Visa Tourism

  • An original passport, signed and valid for at least 6 months + a photocopy of the passport data page.
  • Two duly completed forms.
  • Two face-to-face color photos of “identity” format.
  • A copy of the return flight ticket.
  • A copy of the hotel reservation or the accommodation certificate.
  • A copy of the residence permit as well as proof of address for non-French people.
