General information
To travel to Belarus a visa is generally required with a few exceptions.
Nationals of the following countries with an ordinary passport are exempt from visas:
Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan.
Nationals of the following countries with an ordinary passport are exempt from visas for a stay of less than 5 days with departure and arrival in Minsk:
Albania, Andorra, Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, Austria, Bahrain, Barbados, Belgium, Bosnia Herzegovina, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Rep, Denmark, Dominica, El Salvador, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany , Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Korea (Rep), Kuwait, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia (FY-ROM), Malaysia, Malta, Mexico, Micronesia (Federated States), Monaco , Netherlands, Nex Zealand, Nicuaragua, Norway, Oman, Panama, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Saudi Arabia, Seychelles, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, St Vincent and The Grenadines, Sweden, Switzerland, USA, Uruguay, Vanuatu and Vatican City.
Foreign travelers are currently prohibited from crossing the land border between the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation, either by road or by train. Checks are carried out by the Russian authorities and offenders (even if they are in possession of a Russian visa) are refused entry and liable to a fine. This measure also applies to French people residing in Belarus.

Do you need a Visa for Belarus?
Obtaining a visa for Belarus may be necessary depending on the purpose of your stay, its duration and your nationality.
Please note that Belarusian immigration laws remain very changeable. Thus, we can only advise you too much to check the feasibility of your trip before your departure, in particular concerning the possibility of being able to enter Belarusian territory without a visa.
Conditions of entry in Belarus
To be able to enter the territory of Belarus, the traveler must bring his passport with visa (if necessary), a copy of his insurance certificate as well as a return flight ticket.
It should be noted that, even if the traveler is in possession of all the documents requested to validate his entry into Belarus, the Belarusian authorities reserve the right to refuse access to their territory without having to justify it.
Understanding the Visa for Belarus
The single or double entry visa is valid for 30 days on site. Regarding the multiple entry visa, it is valid for one year for 90 days on site.
Documents to be provided : Visa Business
- An original passport, signed and valid for at least 6 months + a photocopy of the passport data page.
- A duly completed form
- A full-face color photo “identity” format.
- An official invitation issued by the Belarusian authorities.
- A mission letter from the French company indicating the reason and dates of the trip.
- A hotel reservation on headed paper, including the address, stamp and signature of the hotel establishment.
- A repatriation insurance The latter must include the following elements:
– contain the name of the insurance company, its address, its telephone numbers or the international assistance number, as well as the names and surnames of the insured
– be valid in the territory of the Republic of Belarus.
– cover the entire stay in Belarus.
– indicate coverage of medical costs of at least € 10,000

REMINDER: Travellers must have the original of the insurance certificate with them when traveling to Belarus.
- A copy of the residence permit as well as proof of address for non-French people.
Documents to be provided: Visa Tourism
- An original passport, signed and valid for at least 6 months + a photocopy of the passport data page.
- A duly completed form
- A full-face color photo “identity” format.
- An official invitation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or a voucher from a Belarusian agency.
REMINDER: an official invitation from the Belarusian authorities is compulsory for stays of more than 11 days.
- A copy of the flying ticket or round trip itinerary.
- A repatriation insurance certificate. The latter must include the following elements:
– contain the name of the insurance company, its address, its telephone numbers or the international assistance number, as well as the names and surnames of the insured
– be valid in the territory of the Republic of Belarus.
– cover the entire stay in Belarus.
– indicate coverage of medical costs of at least € 10,000

Documents to be provided: Transit Visa
- An original passport, signed and valid for at least 6 months + a photocopy of the passport data page.
- A duly completed form
- A full-face color photo “identity” format.
- A copy of the visa of the following country after your transit.
REMINDER: if the country of destination is Ukraine then an invitation letter from Ukraine must be provided.
- A copy of the residence permit as well as proof of address for non-French people.
