New entry conditions on the island of Zanzibar
Zanzibar authorities have introduced compulsory insurance for anyone traveling to the island from October 1, 2024. This insurance is sold by the Zanzibar Insurance Company and costs approximately €45 per person.
This insurance is valid for a period of 92 days and is compulsory, even for travelers benefiting from or having already taken out travel insurance.
This insurance only applies to Zanzibar. It is neither requested nor valid for travelers going to mainland Tanzania (in particular for Kilimanjaro and game reserves).
