Do I have to provide my original passport for a Visa application?
The original passport is required for all visa applications outside of eVisa.
Can I travel with a damaged but still valid passport?
Be sure to provide a passport in good condition! Not only would you risk being refused your visa application and, if it is accepted, being refused access to the territory when you pass through the border post.
Can I apply for a Visa with an expired passport?
No, generally your passport must have a minimum validity of 6 months after the date of your trip. Check the country of destination sheet to know the consulate’s expectations in this regard.
Can I provide scanned photographs for a Visa application?
No, you must submit original photographs. Only an eVisa request can offer a scanned photograph.
Can I provide black and white photographs?
No, the photographs proposed must be in color with, preferably, a light background.
Can I wear glasses in my photographs?
Some consulates accept others not. We therefore advise you to provide photos without glasses.
Can I complete my Visa application form in pencil?
No, when the form is to be written by hand, you must complete it with a blue or black pen. Avoid felt-tip pens, opt for pen tips.
Can I send you my Visa application form by email?
Most consulates require that the forms offered when applying for a Visa bear the applicant’s original signature. Therefore, sending this document by email is prohibited.
Do I have to complete all sections of a Visa application form?
Yes, even if some of the questions asked may sometimes seem irrelevant to you in relation to a Visa application. An incorrectly completed form can lead to Visa refusal.
Can I apply for a tourist Visa even if the purpose of the trip is professional?
We will always advise you to obtain a Visa in connection with your activity there. Some countries track down “bogus tourists” and you will therefore be liable to penalties ranging from a simple fine to many more.
Can I use my Visa whenever I want as I want?
Yes and no! You must scrupulously respect what your Visa offers you as a possibility, both in terms of validity dates, the number of entries or the type of activity that you can exercise on site.
Can I be refused my Visa application? For what reasons?
Unfortunately yes! As many embassies and consulates like to point out, obtaining a Visa is not a right but a privilege granted by the host country.Your application can be refused both because your file is incomplete or badly completed but also for other reasons which sometimes remain at the discretion of the embassy or consulate.
Can I apply for a Visa without having already defined travel dates?
Some consulates require your flight tickets when you apply for a Visa, others do not. Refer to the destination country file to know the consulate’s expectations on this subject.
How do I know if my trip requires a Visa application?
Refer to the destination country sheet to find out if a Visa is necessary or not.
Is my presence compulsory for submitting my Visa application?
No, the presence of the applicant is not mandatory except when you have to offer your fingerprints or when the consulate wishes to see you for an interview prior to the acceptance of your application.
Can I get my Visa urgently for all destinations?
No, some consulates offer urgent processing of requests, others do not. Refer to the country of destination sheet to find out about the possibilities offered by the consulate on this subject.
Can I have my Visa extended on site?
This remains at the goodwill of the authorities of the host country. If this is generally possible, do not make your request for an extension at the last moment, otherwise you will be refused.
Can I apply for a Visa from a country other than that of my nationality / residence?
This is still possible under certain conditions. You must contact the consular service of the destination country from where you are.
Is the eVisa equivalent to a classic Visa?
Yes, the eVisa is a full-fledged Visa. Instead of a Visa stuck on one of the pages of your passport, you will receive it electronically. Please note, once received you will have to print it out to be able to offer it for boarding and arrival.
Why should I have a document legalized or apostilled?
All French documents intended to be used in another country must first be endorsed by a French authority and then by the consulate of the country of destination.
